Buick’s Envista Avenir — Quite good … generally

Buick’s Envista Avenir — Quite good … generally

By David Boldt - MyCarData

For Boomers, Buick’s always been there — until, of course, it wasn’t. In the ‘50s a Buick’s footprint (and wingspan!) may have been at least partially responsible for the popularity of the two-stall garage, given that one stall was hard-pressed to enclose either its length or width. And in the ‘60s the Buick Division was right behind Cadillac in its design language, and immediately behind Oldsmobile (one-time home of the Rocket 88) in performance.

2024 Hyundai Kona — New look in a larger package

By Jim Meachen - MyCarData

The second-generation Hyundai Kona compact crossover is here and I found it improved in almost every aspect from the first generation including technology, interior size, and styling. The styling part is, of course, in the eye the beholder and it has garnered some negative reviews. There wasn't much — other than interior space — to gripe about with the first-generation Kona. Don't forget it was named North American Utility of the Year in 2019.

“That is gorgeous,” exclaimed an artist friend, gazing at our 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz XRT. “It reminds me of a Chevy El Camino,” he added, thinking back to that car-based pickup truck that lived for five generations from 1959 through 1987 — many of those with stylishly sweptback B-pillars.

Longstanding Q50 survives as lone sedan in Infiniti lineup

Longstanding Q50 survives as lone sedan in Infiniti lineup

By Paul Borden - MyCarData

The Q50 sedan was an all-new model when it was introduced as a replacement for the G37 in Infiniti’s lineup, but despite its double-digit age, it has gone through no major modifications and remains part of the vehicle’s first generation, a rare shelf-life in the automotive world. Not only that, with the discontinuation of the Q60 after the 2022 model, the 2024 Infiniti Q50 is the only sedan offering in the company’s five-vehicle portfolio. Crossover SUVs bearing QX designations fill out the lineup

2024 Volvo XC90 Recharge offers 33 miles all-electric range (video included)

By Casey Williams - MyCarData

Volvo recently introduced the EX90, a full-size all-electric luxury crossover that, by all accounts, is a very well-engineered machine with 300 miles range and all of the features today’s upscale drivers demand.  However, if you’ve ever tried to find a charger away from your garage or place of employment, you may wish for an easier, if less technically advanced, solution.  You may prefer the 2024 Volvo XC90 Recharge.

The best way to make a crossover look more like a more rugged sport utility vehicle – is to make it look more rugged. That means a boxier build to its body, and that extends to the wheels as well. Or when it comes to Kia’s midsize CUV offering, combining its “Opposites United” design philosophy with the concept of “Bold for Nature.”

2024 Infiniti QX60 — A stylish mid-sized crossover

2024 Infiniti QX60 — A stylish mid-sized crossover

By Jim Meachen - MyCarData

The mid-sized luxury SUV segment requires a stylish, technology-loaded, and performance-infused  vehicle to be competitive, and the Infiniti QX60 — which reached the marketplace as a 2022 model — makes its statement as a crossover that needs more than a passing glance. It might just have the right combination of luxury panache for the demanding customer.

2024 Ford Escape Plug-in Hybrid — Decent EV range

By Dan Scanlan - MyCarData

My Tesla-owning neighbor strolled up as I motored down the street near our abodes, my Ford Escape warbling quietly as it cruised at a community-friendly 15-mph on EV only. “Wow, that’s quiet,” she said as her fluffy Labradoodle sniffed the flanks of the plug-in hybrid CUV, quiet now as I stopped to chat.

BMW 7 Series gets fully electric drive capability in i7 sedan

By Paul Borden - MyCarData

BMW began getting serious about electrifying its fleet of luxury vehicles a decade ago introducing the i3 hatchback as its first mass-produced zero-emission model. Last year the German automaker topped out its portfolio of sedan-configured EVs with the 2023 BMW i7. A big, powerful brute packed with a multitude of tech features and creature comforts (massage anyone?), the BMW i7 came in only one trim level for 2023.
